1.Used as the negative electrode collector of lithium batteries.
Advantage:
i.Lower cost
The cost of polymer is much lower then copper.
ii.Improving safety
Composite copper film contains a layer of polymer which has a much lower melting point. When short-circuit happens, the polymer layer acts like a fuse and melts due to heating. Thereafter, the short-circuit breaks and heals, preventing the battery from explosion due to heat accumulation within it.
iii.High energy density
The polymer in the composite copper film is very much lighter than copper, so the energy per unit mass of the battery is higher.
iv.Longer life time
The polymer layer is more durable than copper under frequent expansion and shrinking during charging and discharging, extending the life time of battery.
